Try This Again,,,,,
I've been on the road since Wednesday and have a trip toward Dallas in the morning so my mind and fingers are a little out of sync.
Howell sheet metal, Beaumont,Tex:
We took all our wheel metal parts to Tommy Johnson, (Ardmore, OK) for new hickory spokes. He is very reasonable with his prices. 135.00 each if you clean and prime the metalwork and supply the hub bolts and nuts.
Talked with John McLaren, Cheboygan, MI. about making a special run of zinc plated 21" split rims for our Star Cars. These will have the valve stem hole in the correct location. Also discussed with him about producing the 11" X 2" brake drums for the later '26 thru '28 Stars.

How was the meet this year? Find any cool stuff? I went last year but got sick at the last minute this time and couldn't go. I guess I'll have to wait till the Bakersfield meet to get my pre-war "fix" for the year. My STAR needs parts.

The Chickasha, OK swap meet was fairly good this year. There was the remains of one 1926 Star closed car, probably a coupe because of the rear side panels. No doors, windshield, trunk, or rear fenders. Not much in parts elsewhere save for a couple of overpriced hubcaps. I generally go to establish contacts. In that respect, this was a good trip for me this year.
The parts selection seemed to favor Model T's by about 60%.
Hanson's sheet metal, Johnson's wood wheels, Olsen's gaskets, and Wallace Wade tires are always on display here as well as several other sources for radiator repair, period apparel, tools, and various parts rebuilding concerns.
The weather was uncommonly warm and dry for a change! The best days to attend is Thursday and Friday. Most vendors have left by Saturday afternoon and Sunday is slim pickins' at best.

There was lots of Brass Era stuff, very nicely restored. I glanced at a few of the really nice headlights at around a grand each! Prices like that tend to rattle me a bit so I moved on looking for rusty stuff.
Most anything from the Brass Era will tend to be high dollar, especially with the amount of craftsmanship required for restoration.

Am I able to get in touch with the guy to see if I can get him to make up the hicory spokes and then get them sent down under so I can fit them onto my steel parts back in Oz?
I fired up my Durant which has not been running for 40 years! Got the back wheels spinning and videoed the process.
Rick,
Contact Tommy or Steve Johnson thru their web site at woodwheels.com
I talked to Steve the other day and they have one set of wheels finished for me with one more set to go.
I'm trying to get a Star sedan located up in Kansas to haul back when we go to pick up the wood wheels.
Thanks for the contact. I have emailed the guys at Johnson's re: my 1926 Star and am now awaiting a reply.
You mentioned that someone may be making some steel 21" rims. Could you put me in touch with someone in regards to this? - mine are no longer servicable.
Making steady progress with mine.
Had the engine running again last week and now have removed the engine and drive train etc. Am getting chassis ready to sandblast and start the process of rebuilding.
