Transmission removal

Just getting started with the restoration of my 25 star. Need to know how to remove the drive line. Removed the screws holding the cover over the front joint and slid it back. Are the U joints just pressed in and held by the cover or is there some screws or bolts or something that is holding it that I am not finding. I am trying to remove the trasmission as the front shaft will not turn and. Thanks

Re: Transmission removal

There is a bolt that is on the end of the transmission input shaft that keeps the u-joint from sliding forward and off the shaft. Use a deep well socket to reach this bolt.

The u-joint balls are a press fit in the cans that hold them.

I have new sets of the 16 rubber balls to repair this joint. $32.50 plus shipping.

Hope this helps..........Frank ---
