Fellow Durantonians
On January 18, 2006 we were officially incorporated as a non-profit corporation. In December with the approval of the Board of Directors I initiated the process for incorporation. Since the DMAC is a multi-state and worldwide organization we needed to incorporate in a state that would allow our corporate officers and the corporations address itself to be located anywhere other than the incorporation state. So after research I chose the great State of Nevada, whose incorporation structure is friendly for just such a purpose. The only caviat was that the Registered Agent had to be in Nevada. Our President reached out to DMAC member Gary Goodlet who is our only member in Nevada who stepped up and agreed to act as the Registered Agent. We are now officiall the Durant Motors Automobile Club Inc. under Corporation number E0046882006-8 and listed as a non-profit corporation. My next process is to verify if we have an EIN number with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, and if not apply for one, and then apply for our non-profit tax exemp certification from them. This will allow anyone who would like to donate items to the DMAC a tax deduction, also allow us to get reduced postage on our Partner, and other benifits.
