I was walking along the shore of Lake Ontario last week-end and found what looks like the cap of gas tank or carburator of an old car. It seem to be made of brass and the picture on it is of a large chicken like , horse shape with tail and wings up dragon like. In big letter on it is DURANT...can you help????
CHICKEN?? I am sure you have found one of our Durant hubcaps that were used on our Durant cars from 1921 through 1926, they are a brass cap and originaly had a thin plating of nickel which would wear off in time, the logo is of a mythical animal called a GRIFFIN, half eagle and half lion...The radiator emblems also featured this same Griffin during those same years...Hope this helps, Bill
