I am in need of a new or better water pump for the 40-A engine in the DeVaux. Now that I am getting close to finishing the car I am running the engine more and see a little water seeping out of the shaft. Would a new pump be the best fix? Thanks for any help. Gary

What you probably need is just more packing to seal the shaft. You can use a graphite type packing that you can buy at some of the older plumbing and steam shops.

Thanks for the tip. Just a few weeks ago I used some of that material to fix a leak in the laundry room so I have some on hand. I'll keep you posted. Gary
