Kind of wood

I have discovered some bad wood in the floor and roof of my Model 60. This has probably been discussed a few times before, but what type of wood should be used as a replacement? Luckily there is enough there for a good pattern. Thanks.

Re: Kind of wood

I would recommend White Ash or White Oak, well cured, with a slow growth, tight, grain spacing.

Re: Kind of wood

I just did my floor in white oak and it turned out great. It had been replaced many years ago with some type of plywood and it was really in bad shape, so I decided to re-do it. I chose white oak for several reasons. Price, looks, durability, as well as hardness, all came into play. The only thing to remember is that if you want to screw anything into white oak, drill a pilot whole first, or you'll never get your screw started.
