Dambuster crew post war professions

As an amateur family historian I am presently searching for details of a distant relative who served as a rear gunner in the RAF during WW2.
It has reminded me that in the late 1970's whilst living in Luton we had a Co-op insurance man who came to our door from time to time. He once saw that I was reading a book on 617 sqn and was very interested in what was written. He joked that I should not believe everything I read. It was on a later visit that he told me that he was a member of 617 and actually flew either on the dams raids or soon thereafter. He was a really nice bloke and I'd like to think what he said was true. Has anyone any knowledge or information?
Thanks. Oh, by the way, my distant relative was Anthony F Johnson and I have a photo of him in flying kit dated 1942
