The "Dams Raid" section of this website says that the flak guns at Mohne Dam all used "daytime tracer ammunition". I was wondering why popular artwork of the Mohne attack (such as Robert Taylor's "Operation Chastise" & "The Dambusters", and Philip West's "Primary Target") show flak bursts? Because of the paintings, I assumed that it was 20 mm flak using a mixture of tracer, and time delay fuze. Does anyone know about the Mohne flak defenses?
If I've interpreted notes correctly, the use of "daytime tracer ammunition" refers to that of the aircraft.. not the defenders on the dam walls.
