What date did we arrive in the Falklands, and how come the RAF guys got medals if they flew from the Ascensions (we flew into the Ascensions then sailed from there) but i can't remember when we arrived in the Falklands, can anybody help, i know the Battalion got the Wilkinson Sword of Peace (do we qualify for the medal?)
Out the 6 months we were down there only 25 days counted as Op Corporate. To qualify I think we had to do 30 days. The fact that we were dumped down there with shoddy equipment, crap living conditions, no R & R, living on babies heeds and no communication with the outside world obviously wasn't taken into consideration. As you said Battalion was awarded the Wilkinson Sword of Peace. The ordinary Jocks got Dear John letters or Divorce papers
