Poole 3-pc Silver Service Set at least 50-60 yrs old

I have found in my mother-in-law's house, a 3 piece silver service set with the following info on the bottom of each piece: Poole Silver Company, Taunton, MASS...with the number 1201 and the letters EPNS....what does all this mean and is the serving set of any value? There was also a silver over copper pitcher with this set...........

Re: Poole 3-pc Silver Service Set at least 50-60 yrs old

As you have already explained your set was manufactured by the Poole Silver Company of Taunton, Massachusetts. The numbers 1201 are inventory numbers and unless we were to find a catalogue of theirs we cannot tell you much more from the number. EPNS stands for Electro Plated Nickle Silver. Nickle silver is an alloy of mostly copper copper mixed wit nickle. The nickle turns the copper alloy whitish. For value I would search the completed online auction results for a similar set.

Hope this is of help.
