Using Pariser Oxide

Please help me! I am learning the trade and have come across a problem. I want to darken an area and have some Pariser Oxide, but do not know how to apply it. Perhaps there is another method which is better?
With many thanks!

Re: Using Pariser Oxide

Hello Anita,

I've never heard of Pariser Oxide. For the past 20 years, I have been using Tech-ox "P" made by Technic. It does a great job soaking into the pores of the metal.

Re: Re: Using Pariser Oxide

Anita,
Pariser Oxide is an English product and I suspect it is much like what we use here in the U.S.

I use a small painters brush to apply it to the silver. If I want darker application I might sometimes spread the application with and iron rod. The iron galvanically applies a copper coating which the Oxide darkens. This technique allows you to darken some recess of gold work.

Let us know if this is of help.
