Silver Plated Bread Basket 1812

I recently bought a silver plated Bread Basket maker unknowen, however the inscription on the plate reads as follows"
Presented by
Mrs. President John Adams
to
Charlottc Welch
on her Merriage to
Hon. Jeremiah Bailey of Maine
June the 17th 1812

Please advise!

Re: Silver Plated Bread Basket 1812

Is the basket marked by the maker? Can you send an imgage?

Sound very interesting and it is possible you may not be able to discover the maker.

What a delightful bowl. Is there any family connection. Your bowl has historic importance. I am not sure if there is a repository of Adam documents that might give you a clue as to who could have made this basket for the First Lady. Thank you for sharing this with us.

The Massachussetts Historical Society has the Adams family archive. Your basket was presented after Adams left office and there may still be information on his wife's buying habits.

Thanks Fred I was also aware that Preident Adams was not around when the First Lady gave it to Charlotte Welch as a wedding gift. I'll try to contact The Massachussetts Historical Society

Thanks Hank
