Puritan Silver company

I have acquired a teapot or maybe coffee pot that has on the bottom: Puritan Silver Co 925. The only information I can find on a Puritan Silver Co is a slight mention of one such company that was a subsidiary of Oneida. I cannot find anything online about this. Would the 925 necessarily be an indication of sterling or could that be a pattern number? I am wondering how I can know for sure if I have sterling or silverplate.

Re: Puritan Silver company

Wondering if you ever found out about this teapot, because as it happens, I just got one myself that matches this description and I'm strongly doubting that it's actually Sterling. I'll be hitting it with an acid test tonight but was wondering if you ever had yours tested.

Loretta,

If the pot is stamped "sterling" on the bottom, it's most likely sterling. Do you have an image you can post?
