Glue and nail buffer

I have several nail buffers that are sterling silver and I want to replace the chamois but don't know what kind of glue to use to reattach them. the chamois goes over wood and then is glued to the silver cover. Please help. Thanks Lorraine

Re: Glue and nail buffer

I suspect hide glue was used to attach the original chamois covered wood to the buffer. It is still available in the much easier liquid form. I believe it is made by Elmers. I do not recomend using epoxy since replacing the chamois would become a rather messy chore when next it needed it.

Jeffery Herman may be able to better answer this since restoration is his field.

Hope this helps,
Fred

Re: Re: Glue and nail buffer

Thanks Fred,
The glue holds the silver cover to the chamois covered wood. Thanks
Lorraine

Re: Glue and nail buffer

I replace them frequently and I use a hot glue gun

Re: Re: Glue and nail buffer

I use contact cement. See my Web site above.
