google search

How come I don't see my website in Google. Is it because I have to subcribe? or because it is sub-domain? How could I get it in Google search?

Re: google search

A couple of things here

1. You have to have submit your site to Google and the search engines. Your site doesn't show up in them the minute you have one

2. Your images are WAY WAY WAY too big. You need to resize them on your main page and your other page as well too

Images are not supposed to be over a 1mg in size.

I could take an image of yours right now and could fill it up for a background on a webpage because they are that big

So resize them down to an appropriate size

An example the one picture that is in your left column of your template MAY appear to be 174x120 but in actuality it is 3072x2304 and it 1.33 mg

That is just WAY WAY too big.

You need to resize it down with a graphics program like photoshop or irfanview

I can imagine how long it would take someone with dial up right now for your pages to come up

My images are fine. That's not the problem, I resolved it myself. I was looking for help not any type of disapproval or analysis.

Thank You
PB&J---you have the right answer.

Re: google search

Jen you do have way too big pictures and I am not going to wait for your D**N site to load with images that are 2 megabytes in size

that is way too big for pictures to be and more

and am sure others will not go to your site when it takes too long to load with your pictures that are way too big and more I could take one and it would fill out my screen right now because they are big enough to fill out a full computer screen

so candy was right in with what the pictures are even though you do have to SUBMIT your site as she also said

THANK YOU----I GOT MY ANSWER

Re: google search

Jen:

No, your images are not "fine", they are terrible, and not at all suited for the Internet!

If what you say on your site is correct: "This site is created for my family and friends..." then you are OK.

If you want people other than your close family and very close friends to visit your site, you have quite a bit of work ahead of you.

If you want Google to index your site, the main obstacles are:

(1) content

and

(2) links

You need to make sure you have relevant content on your site. As long as your site is relevant, Google wants to index it as much as you want them to.

Google is only successful if they yield search results that match what people are interested in.

You need to convince other, relevant sites to link to yours. Without that, your site will probably never appear in a Google search.

Submitting a site to Google won't do much to help you.

If you will not listen to advice, your site will not succeed.

Re: google search

Not only are you wasting your own bandwidth you are STEALING from people who have download limits.

Re: google search

STEALING IS A VERY HARSH WORD, I DO NOT THINK YOU HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO SAY THAT. I DO NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH ANYMORE "WEB MASTER WANNABEES"

Jen, I have the sense that maybe the word "size" is misleading in terms of how an image is displayed on your site. I agree that you wouldnt want to change the physical dimensions of your images; they fit your page perfectly. What the responders are referring to is file size. For instance, the cake below, on your web page, is about 1.33 mb, and takes a long while to download, even on superfast connections. With a simple graphics program, I reduced the size to about 3 kb with very little loss of quality.

thank you, you are the true web master, your response is very informative and it impress me. this time i might have to market for some good quality web design program and take your advise. I am not concern with my files right now and my images will stay the same size until i decide to use the "best" web design program. great answer, thanks again.
