problem with domain

got a slight problem with my domain. I bought a domain name with bravehost, and people can log onto that domain, except whenever the page changes the name is exactly the same. for example they should go to a page called www.video-fx-universe.com/pictures.html even though they arew on the pictures page it still says www.video-fx-universe.com and if i refresh it always comes back to the title page. How can i sort this problem out?

Re: problem with domain

you have weird things here

also on the gallery page might resize those images.

those pictures are well over 1 mg in size

WAY WAY TOO BIG

unless you have a fast speed with your internet no one is going to look at that page

not sure what you fully have with all your pages. Do you have them redirecting in some fashion and more

I went to your main page and they say certain links for your pages but if I type in the link name it is sent to main page

Maybe someone more who knows what you have got can help you out.

But it is confusing and more

Re: problem with domain

it is because you are using frames (iframes to be more precise). in that case, yes, the name of the main page will remain in the address field because that "page" is not changing, only the contents within the frame area changes.

when you refresh, it will go back to the start page because that is the page being displayed in the address bar. again, it is the iframe effect.

Re: problem with domain

so how do i sort it?

Re: problem with domain

when you write your pages if you change the name in the title section of your html it will list that as the page in the address bar

Code:

<html>
<title>Mypage #2</title>
<head>yourbanner</head>
<body>
all your stuff
</body>
</html>

Hope that makes sense.

Re: problem with domain

you'd have to create all new pages. each page will need the full layout as the main page, just change the contents in the middle on each page to suit its subject.

if you want to stick with iframes, then you are stuck with the address problem.

Re: problem with domain

Sorry I still don't quite get what i have to do. There are like 30 lines of code and i dont make sense with what part needs to be edited

Re: problem with domain

and also what i planned to show you didn't work. I was expecting it to paste the code of my site but it just pasted the visual part instead.

I really don't want to sound stupid here, but you really need to explain step by step what I need to do and what to change because I just don't follow what you mean, partial answers dont help and i have no idea about iframes or how to sort them out

Re: problem with domain

Dave, it looks like you have domain masking turned on. It looks you have your domain pointed to bravenet subdomain and then you turn on domain masking to hide the real URL. You can change the settings in the domain tab, Click domains and then 'Setup domain redirection' and you can change your settings.

Re: problem with domain

yes I have done that and nothing has changed. I'm kind of getting annoyed about this now. Here is what I have done

1. in the domains section. I clicked on setup domain redirection.

2. I clicked on Redirect a domain NOT Redirect subdomain

3. In this section it has the drop down selection which only says "Select a domain www.video-fx-universe.com"
Below this is a panel that says "redirect to (url) and i typed in "www.video-fx-universe.bravehost.com" I then ticked the "Domain masking" Button to "Enable"

So is this right and if so why am i still having the same problem

Re: problem with domain

> ... "Domain masking" Button to "Enable"

Yes, that's your problem. Do not enable domain masking if you do not want the domain to be masked.

OK?
