Help me please! I am new to this so please bear with me. I FTP'd my files but my website isn't showing up. It says that it is under construction. What am I missing? Have I disabled my access to web hosting by deleting a previous attempt? If so, how can I get it back?
It's me responding to my own post. I figured it out. The file was being uploaded as index.htm not html. A quick fix. Can't believe I've been at this for two hours and it was in front of my face the whole time.
1. When you enter your domain name your browser first looks for a file called index.html, if it doesn't find that it looks for index.htm
2. When you register for hosting with Bravenet an index.html page is created with the "under construction" message as a place holder until you upload your site.
3. If you call your home page index.htm then it will be "hidden behind" the index.html unless you delete it.
