why does updating webpage take so long

Was wondering why it takes so long for a webpage to show its updates? I've been doing a little work to my page adding a few things in my spare time I never see any of the updates on the webpage till the next day. Does anyone else have that problem. Its a big pain. I like to be able to see what I've done when I'm doing it so i don't have to keep going back (the next day) if I make any mistakes.

updates happen right when you publish your page

IF YOU are not seeing them right away clean out your temporary internet files folder/cache and do a hard refresh a few times

it should set your browser to update to the newer version of the page you are trying to see

I've closed all windows and restarted the computer and its still takes a long time.

Try pressing Ctrl-F5 when viewing your page. Then find the setting in your browser that says how long to wait before downloading the page from server again. In Opera it looks like this:
