why not look into yahoo groups you can make a group on your topic of interest and invite people to join the group and you can use it as a way to communicate with all

or you can use google groups


with the bravenet e-mail list you are the only one who has access to all members e-mail addresses and more so as said look into something at yahoo groups or google groups it is more of a chat, mailing list group
