Please could someone tell me how I go about redirecting traffic from an old site of mine http://babybiz.live-abundantly.com to my new site at http://baby-hq.com. Both are hosted here on Pro-hosting.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also any critiques of the new site and my blog at http://baby-hq.braveblog.com would also be great.
Well, what I did when I moved from http://www.freewebs.com/aprildragonart/ to http://scribbleartinc.bravehost.com/index.html, I just put a notice on all my pages in my freewebs account that said that the domain had moved. I also emailed all my members and friends about the change.
There is also a code on http://www.lissaexplains.com/fun5.shtml that gives you a code on how to automaticly redirect visitors.
ps. nice site! I'll tell all the mothers in waiting I know!
Buf if you use a 301 redirect, you visitors will automatically be transferred, the search engines will automatically understand your move and all the PR you may have (Google PageRank) on the old page will be moved over to the new one.
I think even DMOZ will move your sites info to the new URL.
Search for "301 redirect htaccess" in the search engines and they will give you lot's of info
