I Don't Understand how you would use the ftp program to upload a web page built with Microsoft Front Page 2000. Can you please instruct me?

Christian

Re: Microsoft Frontpage

first is your site hosted here at bravenet

or do you have the free subdomain or what

that for starters will tell you if you need to use FTP

I use frontpage and I publish my site via the ftp program I have

Re: Microsoft Frontpage

I understand that Frontpage has an ftp upload program however I don't know what the correct upload address is.

I tried the one on my free bravenet account and it didn't work for some reason. I also clicked on the ftp link on bravenet and that didn't seem to work either.

Thanks,

Christian

Re: Microsoft Frontpage

you can use the frontpage extensions if you have the premium hosting account and a domain

if you have a xxxx.bravehost.com site then you will have to use an ftp program

Re: Re: Microsoft Frontpage

Microsoft has a nice little scam where they let you build things that won't work with a standard web site. These are called "Front Page Extensions". Your web host then has to buy special Microsoft software to make your site work. Web hosts, including Bravenet pass this extra cost back to the customer. Of course the inexperienced use the extensions thinking they are building a normal web site and then get all sorts of problems on upload.

You will find the FTP parameters by logging in to your account and instructions for uploading sites using extensions in the knowledge base.
