Bravenet is actually set up to make things easier for beginners. Most other web hosts will expect you to have a much better idea of how the web works.
Also, I would expect that there would be a charge for transferring a free domain name to a different host since the cost is actually included in the 12 months hosting.
Michelle, I checked your website-- it seems well-designed and exactly appropriate for the subject matter.
