I know when I originally set up the counter, it said that it would not advance the count when I went to that particular page. It is now counting my visits, how do I correct this?

Log in to your account. Reset it to count your visits then reset again to ignore them.

It recognises you by downloading a cookie when you make the ignore request. There are several things you could have done on your PC that would zap existing cookies.
