What does the future look like for our nation's HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities)?

Welcome to our discussion.   This is an open conversation about our 105+ HBCUs.  Many of us have had positive experiences that outweigh any negative memories.  However, when we are out and about at different venues we hear that many people are once again questioning the relevance of the HBCU.  On any given day when we approach a person about shopping in our boutique www.HBCUkidz.com, we usually hear 1 of the following comments:

1) "When my child grows up I hope that the HBCUs are no longer around or needed"

2) "I get and support you promoting family heritage/education but I don't know what HBCU means"

3) "I would love to support your business but I went to one of the 80 schools you do not carry in your store so I can not
buy anything else until you have MY school"

4) "Isn't this what the school bookstore should be selling? Why do you have MY school's paraphenalia? Are you licensed?"

5) "This is exactly what we have been searching for! Thanks for all that you do!"

What about you?  How do you feel about the situation?  What needs to be done in your opinion?
