I am so delighted to have found this site as I had no idea it existed! I'd like to know if there are any surviving ladies and gents of the welding team that converted the original 20 aircraft in order to carry the mine.
My Mother Ellen Chambers-Lees, was one of the ladies ( a gas welder ) who converted the aircraft and I'd love to hear from anyone who was invloved in this task or any family members who relatives may have worked with my Mum.
In a small way, I am so proud of her war effort/job and she was so proud to have met Guy Gibson and Ellenor Roosevelt during a visit to AVRO.
