Allstate "defensible space" requirements: (summary)
no dead or dying trees within 500 feet of home if other flammable fuel exists.
No flammable tree species within 30 feet.
Tree canopies must be more than 20 feet apart.
No flammable structures within 50 feet.
No other flammable material within 50 feet.
These requirements must be met regardless of property lines. They also refer to www.firewise/org and www.firesafecouncil.org for more details.
Don't be surprised if other insurance companies also adopt similar requirements. Allstate adopted these requirements over one year ago and did not provide any notification until a month before the renewal date.
Quotes from other insurance companies are expected in June. |
