Message:   After a 3-day mini-tournament with my buddies from Washington State and Santa Rose, I can report the following:

70% of our fish came on jigs, and the rest with Senkos.

Monday the 19th I caught 2 fish with top-water early in the morning, then I concentrated on isolated tully clumps and dropped small jigs into the center - brown on brown or brown on watermelon with brush hog tails worked really well.

My buddy from Sta Rosa caught the big fish of the day (7+lbs) with a 1/4" finesse jig (with a Yamamoto double tail grub).

Then, when the sun got high, we moved away from shore and made longer casts with lighter line. We used Senkos, jigs and shaky heads, and all three caught fish if we dragged the lure slowly.

Overall, in three days, we caught around 50 fish (4 of us) and the best was the 7+lb. Several fish were over 3 lbs and the rest were cookie cutters about 2-2.5 lbs.

Some fish have spawned already and some are still cruising around in shallow water to warm up.

Except for the wind it was great fishing this week, but it still isn't as good as it was last year at this time.
