Hungerford 3 Harrow Hill 0

After the 660 who turned up last week, 60 of them came back to Bulpit Lane to watch this end of season affair. This was a lack lustre performance by Hungerford who have been struggling to get their passing game together since Christmas. Having said that, Hungerford could still have been 4 up by half time. Concannon, Gosling , Brewer, Fitch, lets face it probably everyone in the team except Dominic Green had chances to score. Ironically, in the second half, with far less chances, Hungerford scored three. The first, a bouncing cross evaded the goalkeeper, and Conners rose a foot from their goaline to head in. The second a harsh penalty decision, earned solely by Brewer that chaser of folorn hopes. Gosling converted. The third goal, the result of the best football of the game, a one-two -three between Clarke and Gosling, that ended with Gosling scoring close in.On a positive note, Brewer had a splendid second half, Edders worked tirelessly throughout, Clark showed more than a glimpse of his pre injury form,Conners was neat and brought others into the game, and Austin when he came on at the right hand of midfield left his marker for dead 3 times in almost as few minutes. He needs to work on his delivery but he has bags of time. I see North Leigh lost at home today; it still could be an interesting end of the season.

Re: Hungerford 3 Harrow Hill 0

Hate the words told you so ! but..........

Charlie went past more players in the few minutes he was out there than anyone else has all season ! Ok so it was against possibly one of the poorest defences in the league, but for me he easily did enough to warrant a lengthier trial out there !

I hope he gets the chance against Witney tomorrow in what is now a game that could kill any remaining title aspirations.

Fingers crossed that N Leigh can beat Almondbury, and we can beat Witney. Then all we need is to beat North Leigh, and Witney beat the Almonds to set up a very interesting finish ! It`ll either be all over or setup for one of the best run-ins in recent times by next weekend !

In all honesty, Charlie at right wing didn't do alot for me, ok he had a couple of runs but harrow were a man down, 3-0 down and going down! and still crossing needs to be worked on. Must say I prefer him up top, big strong target man who works his socks off and makes sure the ball doesn't come back too easily, anyway big week for the club.

Re: Hungerford 3 Harrow Hill 0

well yes they were Inkpen, and hence why id like to see Charlie have another chance out there. His pace showed out wide, and whilst Harrow were not the greatest team, other players didnt manage to go past them like Charlie did !
There is no way he can play up front ahead of Connors, who made it 3 goals in his last 2 games, so unless we are going to go 3 up front the wide right berth is Charlies best option.

Re: Hungerford 3 Harrow Hill 0

Seems SO obvious to me... have Conners and Charlie up front, leave out fitch?!!! Still play the passing game with Charlie, just gotta make sure the defence dont start going long just because Charlie is there, hes good on the floor too!! Need to play our passing game again!!!

Re: Hungerford 3 Harrow Hill 0

but surely that means sticking with the wingbacks ?

Playing Chaz upfront with Connors, would mean playing Gosser in a deeper attacking midfield role between the 2 CMs and the 2 strikers, and hence 3 in the middle of the park.

Now thats not a problem, but still leaves us with the original question of who is going to play out wide ? , and do we play a 5-3-2, a 3-5-2 a 3-5-1-1-, or a 5-3-1-1

Re: Hungerford 3 Harrow Hill 0

How about 4 - 3 - 3 ? No one's mentioned this formation a'la Jose Mourninho!

Up front Conners Central (18 yard box) Jamie off his left, Charlie off his right!

In centre midfield Luke & Toby always play and then one from Edders/Fitch/Joner - Plenty of options there both attacking and defensive.

Defence - Copp - Bedders - Macca - Jim Bob/Macca

Also Charlie is not always available mid week so both Edders and Fitch could play in his attacking wide right place.

Also Tarrick could be back soon!? More selection problems!

Lets see who will play tonight. Vital night for the HPL Title Race Hungerford V Witney - North Leigh V Almondsbury
