Lydney 0 Almonds 2

Credit where credit is due. Almondsbury deserved their win. This is a team of motivated munchkins ( they must be the smallest team in the league) and they run and run and run. Highly organised and energetic even on a damp thursday night in deepest forest country, who will beat them. For a start a team that recognises their set play strategy is to drive a ball to the far post. Their two goals were scored that way, one from a corner, one from a free kick. How good are their defence. Who knows because Lydney having scored five against Hungerford never got a shot off in anger. In support of Lydney, this was their 3rd game in 6 days, and two of their most influential players, Danny Clark (?) and Pete Macklin (Australia) were missing. Unfortunately, I had an exchange of views with the Lydney Manager who I instinctively like because he has even less hair than me. He called me a nob, which would be o.k. if he meant the 19th century usage i.e. a toff. But did he mean knob i.e. idiot. The ambiguity is going to keep me awake all night.

Chris - a least you informed us about the result - are there no telephones that deep in the Forest? the result has yet to find its way onto Mitoo.

Another angle on the nob/knob issue is whether or not it is 'inappropriate' langauge?

Ah im sure you must of course have misheard the Lydney manager.

My best guess is that he was offering you a bicuit with your half time drink
