Lydney 5 Hungerford 3.
First, an obvious point. If the Hungerford defence play as badly as this on Sat we will not beat Whitley Bay. The same back five, who performed so well against Greenwich Borough, were collectively and individually dreadful. Dominic had a nightmare first half and the two centre backs were everywhere except where they were needed. Hungerford were 3 goals down after 25 minutes, every goal a gift from our indeterminate defence; it is to the teams credit that we then got two back, a good strike from Fitch and a goal from Mayo. But in the second half, Lydney scored two more a free header from a free kick (where were the centre backs) and a needless penalty given away by the hapless Bedwell.Alan Clarke at last grasped the seriousness of the situation and made changes. On came Brewer, Edders and Mcrae and the side immediately looked better. Edders got one goal back. My nephew Pete Maclin, who scored two goals said Hungerford are just long ball merchants. Pump, pump, pump, thats all they do. My other nephew Joe, who scored the pen, thought Hungerford were going to be a lot better. My son Jamie, who didnt play after all just looked frustrated. The only players who came out with any credit were Powell,Mayo and possibly Concannon who must be desperate for a cross to his feet.Plus the three originally on the bench. The Kentish Times wrote that the Hungerford team kicked the ball high into the blue sky all game long, the Witney supporterswondered where our passing game has gone and now so do I. Over to you Alan.

Don't go agreeing with Witney supporters or KP will never talk to you again - but please - if you question Alan please spell his name correctly or he might take offence!

Re: Lydney 5 Hungerford 3.
Sorry,Mr Clark,no 'e'. You spell your name in the same way as that late Tory politician who famously enjoyed the favours of a mother and her two daughters ( but not at the same time I believe). I know this post is very early in the morning, but after last evening when we gave away free kicks and kicked away the ball with the same brainless profligacy, I found it difficult to sleep.

It's a bad result especially as other results went our way with Almondsbury drawing and North Leigh losing.
Brewer, McCrae and Edney have to start Saturday if we have any chance in my opinion.

So let's have it boys - who would you put out (presuming the are all fit) as a starting line-up on Saturday. It might make Clarkies job a little easier!

It is not my place, Mr Clark is the Manager. I just hope the side, whichever one Alan picks, doesnt play too deep, too conservatively, and plays a passing game.

Re: Lydney 5 Hungerford 3.
On Mothers Sunday, we had a family dinner last night with Christina's sisters family. Me nephew Joe Macklin, captain of Lydney complained that my post re black tuesday was all about how poor Hungerford had played and nothing about how well Lydney had played. Joe,as is often the case, is quite right. LYDNEY PLAYED VERY WELL,OUTPASSING HUNGERFORD AND THE SCORE PROBABLY FLATTERED THE LOSERS.All right, Joe?

Re: Lydney 5 Hungerford 3.
Maybe you've taken it a bit far Uncle Chris, but thank you anyway, however belated the praise i think it may be the only bit Lydney have had all year! (and i'm referring to on field performances, not the off the field circus/shambles we are faced with due to bureaucratic local authorities!!) See you soon Unc... PS Did anyone know he was once a county tennis champion?
