Last night's game?

I take it the game was on? Anybody on the forum go, as it would be good to get a match report in Mr Gos' absence!

Re: Last night's game?

I can sum it up in 1 word (in fact one letter lots of times.....

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Two great chances squandered in the first half, firstly a weak Fitch header easily cleared, and then Austin after rounding the keeper with ease, inexplicably rolled the ball past the post !
Also 3 or 4 half chances, but realistically should have been 2 up at HT.

Nothing of note in the second half, and never looked like scoring at all once Connors went off. The again a that point how many goals had the rest of the players on the pitch scored between them this season ?
Answers on a postcard !

Last 5-10 minutes was backs to the wall as, on a plus point, our defence held firm to share the spoils !

Re: Last night's game?

If you need to read more than (zzzzzzzzzzzzzz) go to www.witneyunited.co.uk and click on 1st team then reports. Someone stayed awake along enough to write a reasonable report on the procedings. It may be via the witney website but, in my view, was reasonably representative of what was an end to end game - that was probably played at too much pace as neither side used the ball well enough when they had it in a little bit of space.

Re: Last night's game?

KP I can only imagine you werent there!! 2 up at HT!? Yes you had a couple of decent chances but correct me if I am wrong so did we? No mention of the fact that Copp should have had a straight red for pulling down Harry Burnley?
Second half certainly was ours as we created a number of chances and were denied a stonewaller of a pen!
To be fair though I thought it was an exciting affair as both teams tried to win the match and gave their all. By the way can we stop all the nonsense you write on the Hellenic Chat Room about you being a lovely footballing side!! If you passed the ball on the floor twice all night I would be amazed...granted Gosling wasnt playing but are you telling me without him you change your whole style of playing!
Still look forward to the return though and hopefully KP you will enjoy it a little more!!

Re: Last night's game?

I can only wish i hadnt been there to listen to the sad bunch of muppets in the stand.

As someone who does enjoy football, sad crys of OFF OFF OFF every time someone makes a tackle, make me wonder why we bother. Its a physical game, people make mistakes, no-one died, and the tackle wasnt even dangerous.

Thankfully the ref wasnt to be intimidated but its easy to understand why many visitors have claimed they have been.

As for stone walled penalties...3 handballs in the Witney box in the space of 30 seconds !?!? Oh but then i guess the fog stopped you all seeing those ?

And yes 2-0 at half time wouldnt have flattered us. We had easily the 2 best chances and one of which i still cant believe didnt go in.

Witney fans showed their thoughts at the end....is it as good as your season gets 0-0 at home ?!??!

I certainly dont disagree with you about the quality last night.Hence my zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz`s in the first place. To me neither side looked like a top half, let alone top 4 side ! But then this is often the case when two top teams have a lot to play for.

Lets be honest who was it a better result for ? Surely Hungerford will be happpier with the result, missing key players and away from home !

And for the record , yes i was there, dont normally miss games home or away thank you for concern!

Re: Last night's game?

Oh come now Chris, surely you can tell i am not riled. There is not even a hint of a swear word in sight

By the way did you have inside information in advance. I find it a bit of a coincidence that the game you missed is the one thats 0-0

The game as we know is all about different opinions, many of which i originally chose to keep to myself.

Re: Last night's game?

Seriously, KP I was going to come to the game with Christina, but her plane was over two hours late . Naturally I phoned Ken for the score as soon as we got home. For some reason or other he thought I was somebody else. Strange as I thought I was the only person he knows with a silly posh accent.

Re: Last night's game?

I tell you what, this forum would be a lonely place without KP and Chris Gos (or Gossers Dad)

Seem to be getting a lot of fans from other teams on here now, which is a bonus!

KP, you do seem slighty worked up, obviously u weren't best pleased with the whitley fans on tuesday night!

Re: Last night's game?

Hmmmm i can categorically state that i had absolutely no problem with the Whitley fans on Tuesday night. In fact i am absolute certain i wont have a problem with my Northern comrades when they come next weekend

As for those moaning, grumbling, whingeing, whining, baying, etc etc, idiots at Witney, well thats another matter.

Grumbling = sound of any kind (especially unintelligible or dissonant sound); ah that`ll be the one !

Re: Last night's game?

Well let's hope the Whitley Fans don't support their team then or they to will be described as idiots by the grumpy old man of Hellenic football - I wasn't at Witney but kp's whinging oozes out of this board - still if you just want two posters each week, best he carries on just chatting to a posh ex-county (times reading) tennis player.
When Whitley arrive I do hope they don't do anything nasty like a) support their side, or b) something as awful as sing songs and generally enjoy themselves.
If they do they will have gone to the wrong place.

Re: Last night's game?

So some Witney fans had the audacity to 'support' their team - how date they!

Supporters who make a noise are obviously a rare concept down at Hungerford.

If Tuesday night wound you up, KP then better not go to any away games if HUFC ever get promoted to the Southern League.

Rumour has it that all clubs have these 'crazed, cheering and supportive fans' at that level...

Re: Last night's game?

Rumour has it that once i have finished my whingeing course i will become a fully fledged Witney supporter ! However i cant see for one moment that completing the training could possibly make all my brain cells die overnight !

Now when i was lad supporting my team used to involve lots of chants, getting behind the team, encouraging them, etc.
So what exactly was the support for the lads on the pitch ? I cannot remember even one chorus of "Come on Witney", or any mention of you being "the finest team in football". I would even go as far as to say i never even heard "We love you Witney"
No you`re idea of support consisted of one syllable words, "OFF , OFF , OFF" when anybody dared to tackle your team, and a sound not unlike like a cow giving birth when one of your players shots passed within 30 yards of the goal !
If thats support, then keep it. If your supporters want to get behind their lads, fair enough, but that certainly wasnt what i would call support !

Re: Last night's game?

What a sad little man you are KP....people have opinions different from your own and the dummy comes out..judging by your idea of support your team has been devoid of it for a long time.
Still all the best in the Vase and lets hope those Whitley fans dont make too much noise for you and heaven forbid even chant "OFF" when one of your players commits a red card offence..

Re: Last night's game?

Ill tell you what i challenge you to come and call me a sad little man to my face when we play you at our place.

Just ask for KP everyone knows who i am, i dont need to hide behind an internet name. That is sadness for you.

As for shouting OFF , thats fine, as long as its not the only word they know ! Still should we have expected anything more than words of 1 syallable from Witney ?

Re: Last night's game?

Yes people have different opinions, the difference between men and boys, and hence i guess your name, is that men will stand by what they say and put a name to it.
If we refer back to the start of the thread i commented on the game, which i thought to be a dull, lacklustre effort. If you truly believe watching stuff like that week in week out is exciting fair play to you. I can also recommend watching snail racing, paint drying, or sheep counting for someone that is so easily entertained.
I only became objectionable when you jumped up twits had the audacity to come on our board, and belittle my comments.
Having spoken to others their take on the game was the same as mine, so i really dont know why you got so uppity about it in the first place.
Like i said though if 0-0 at home to a team below you in the table is acceptable then you are showing your true ambitions.

Still feel welcome to ask for me in person at the return game, i look forward to buying you a beer. (actually we best make that a coke unless you can bring some ID with you)

Re: Last night's game?

KP and Mr Gos are always keen to buy people a pint. Yet, when i've scene them up the club, they are tighter than a ducks backside! Only joking lads!

Obviously because you don't shout off, off, off, you are not true football fans.

Out of interest guys, how many games do you guys see every week? I'm almost certain you've scene more games of football between yourselfs that these whitney boys have had hot dinners!
