I think the last time I saw Whitley Bay play was in the middle 1950's when they played Barnet FCat Underhill., in the FA Amateur Cup. Barnet won 1-0, as I remember it, and it might have been the year that Barnet went on to Wembley to lose 3-2 to Crook Town in the Final in front of 50,000. The Amateur Cup was a big deal in those days. I think Whitley Bay played in white shirts, dark shorts (similar to Hungerford). Is it possible. Or am I having another senior citizen moment. Incidentally,did your parents name you Howaythebay or did you change your name by deed poll. |
