The other one that I am looking for must have been deleted. I see that one but there was another. I wonder what was said. Why delete the whole thread when you could just delete a post if it crossed the line.

Re: ATI thread
We were talking about what region was having issues with ATI glass. I'm in the north east but someone was saying that is where ATI is the strongest? We should all be getting it from the same suppliers.

Re: ATI thread
Weren't they the ones that were either making or importing those b/g's that were recalled. We get a lot of ATI from every supplier and it seems to be about a 50/50 shot. I know that some parts like the new Mustang doors you'll want to avoid. I haven't seen one yet that fits right and some of the other techs in my shop have had problems with the curve of the glass where it pushes the seal out when you roll up the glass.

Re: ATI thread
When you install a door glass (i.e. ATI) then close the window, there should NOT be a 1/2" gap between the glass and the outer belt molding. If anyone thinks this is normal, please explain??
Do you think ATI will send me $60 + Labor to pay for the new glass run channel I have to buy since it got damaged from the glass rolling it in and out. NOT!

Re: ATI thread
I was the one who said that ATI never gave us problems. Im in southern california and the distributor I worked for carried ARM, XYG, Pilk, Aptk, and other off brand tempered....never had problems with ATI.....They have more ATI then all other because it is so solid.
As for ATI getting that recall....they bought chinesse quarters and vents from TYG, and when it got to america they added the clips, moldings...etc because it is still way cheaper to do that then make the glass themselves....i dont blame them because one cant make EVERYTHING.....the glass broke bigger than it was supposed to and safelite caught it....and there offering is good in my eyes.

One of the main problems we run into is the tabs on doorglass are virtually never precise and sometimes not even close and those metal tabs for dodges just fall apart.Jerzey

Re: ATI thread
Well I've been deleted and I'm not sure why.
I just asked the question and naming no brands why we put up with some of the garbage we are getting in the aftermarket.
somebody makes it, others sell it, We as an installer and shop owner have to put it in and to stand by it. We get the short stick and the unhappy customer.
AS for brands I like (or prefer). I don't have any. I've been disappointed and hung out to dry by the majors with bonded parts that aren't or in the wrong place. One thing for sure, if it's a brand that I consider cheap or never heard of, I stay away from it

Re: ATI thread
We installed a ATI windshield on a Ford 500 and the bottom cowl retainer would not let the cowl stay snapped then the mirror pulled a hunk of the glass out when it came loose as we tried to adjust it. Never had problems before this one though.

Re: ATI thread
We had a Ford 500 windshield that was in really bad shape. It was a PPG..the retainers literaly fell off when I removed the tape and the molding looked like it had been runover..I wonder what the guy is thinking when he gets the order and grabs this window off the shelf and decides to send it to us.I guess the $hit stops at the bottom of the hill.

Re: ATI thread
I don't know how many of y'all have Carmax stores in your area, but they've been running a commercial here that shows them rolling up the windows of, what looks like, a Focus. When the glass gets to the top, it falls out and shatters. I gotta wonder if that's ATI in the doors.

Put an ATI 8-hole d/g in a impreza today and all the holes actually lined up..ATI must have bought out some company and put their bugs on the leftover stock..lol

Re: ATI thread
By the way..what is the metal plate hooked to the back of the bump stop on the rear hole of the door glass.(it was glued to the glass from the factory and in my trash can when I left.)It was wedging in the track with the guide so I chucked it..everything is adjusted and works great.
