63 Lincoln Cont.

I hate working on these old cars. Anybody done one of these? Haven't even seen the car yet. I assume its chrome over rubber. I know, I shouldn't assume. Glass is pricey too. Maybe I will give them Safelites number...

Re: 63 Lincoln Cont.

Been probably 40 years since the last one, but if my memories right they're not too bad. Side moldings hook into a shallow slot in the rubber along the front edge & wrap around the A pillars, held on with screws. Top molding fits in a slot in the rubber with a screw in each corner that is exposed when the sides are pulled. No need to take the bottom molding off. We'll assume you will replace the rubber. Here's how I used to do them.
Lay a bead of sealer on the bottom along the pinchweld & snap the bottom of the rubber over the bottom pinchweld. set the glass in the rubber and wrap the 2 sides & the top around the glass. Put the top Chrome in the slot in the rubber. Run a bead of sealer on the back edge of the outside lip of the rubber on the sides & top. Pull the 2 sides & the top in with a hook
