IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
I haven't seen a copy yet, but I would like to hear from others who have. Is this really a good way to represent a serious issue facing consumers? Does it bring out the truth of what is going on out there, and what some, networks are doing? My first impression was this was some lame attempt to further make lite, or water down, a grave problem. No one else has commented or posted about this, so it has me wondering??????? those that have it and/or are using this as a tool, what do you think? Is this an attepmt to make a joke out of STEERING? After all,,,, a comic book? to me it's not funny, but I'll have to get my hands on one. Just wondering,,,,,,,,,,,

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
Admittedly I thought it was a joke, until I saw it.
It really is well written, except for a couple typos, but the idea I believe is terrific.
Credit goes to all involved in its creation! I think this will be an effective tool if used correctly. We have displayed a few in our office and have already had some comments generated from it.

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
Received a copy in the mail and read it. I believe that it does a good job of bringing to light the steering that most customers(ie: Insurers) are not aware of and it help explain why a glass shop might not be on the preferred list. My hat is off to the IGA. They are at least taking a step in helping us independents battle the forces of the TPAs and Insurance Giants.

I saw him pick up a few and take them with him. It's an excellent tool by the way.

Yeah, I saw Feeney leave with a dozen copies. Probably for his legal department. IGA has a PDF of the comic posted on their home page. Cool stuff and a crazy idea.
According to glassbytes they have a second version coming out.

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
I believe it was Ralph Nader who suggested the idea of creating the comic book to the IGA. Apparently it is something he has had done previously for other efforts and had success with it.
I for one would be more inclined to pick up and read the comic book than I would be to pick up and read a plain text flyer.

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
If the idea is to educate the public, Then why isn't it published for the public to see already. Good Idea, Bad stewards of such. How many copies were printed, Downloaded etc.. Whos kidding who....
.
Just as well anyway, with the new intel coming in today it is certainly due for revision. I'm not laughing.

It was just printed. The ink is barely dry. Give it a chance. Instead of shooting it down before it gets off the ground, why not ask what you can do to help?

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
There is always one. Webbie no need to defend IGA's efforts.
The comic has been out for a week and we are already hearing a buzz from the industry. It's one of those things that only helps if you use it. I've linked to volume one below.
Don't Get Steered!!!

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
It's a neat idea... but I to would like to know who it is being marketed too? I have printed it out from their website, but how am I to get it to the people that aren't already my customers. If I have someone in my office it is a great tool, but what about the general public that has no problem with a broken piece of glass..... yet!

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
Well, I just got a chance to look at it and I must say, I like it. I think it is well written and "to the point". It's not enough to make me run to my check book, AGAIN, but If the IGA keeps moving and attempting to help this industry,, well you never know, I may join, again. I'm all for helping, but we need to see results. I'll try to print off a copy and use it with customers and maybe find a way to use it in some marketing. If we can truely educate the consumer, change will happen. This is one good front to fight, and for those truely interested in making a difference get in touch with j armstead there is more that can be done to get this industry back on track and off of network and ins co control. Thank you IGA for getting the ball started now, get it ROLLING AND KEEP IT ROLLING!

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
IGA members are using the comic to educate not only customers as they come into the shop but agents, lawmakers, attorneys and judges.
Also be careful with printing it off. This comic is licensed for use by IGA members only. They paid to have it created; they consulted with Nader on the idea and they are paying to market it.
If you plan on using the comic, please join the association and pay for the license. It is only fair and it is all we ask.
BTW, I'm working on vol 2 as we speak. Good times!

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
I'm sorry.. I forgot to wave the piece of paper on the wall behind that says that my company is a member of IGA before I asked the question... my bad. (also NGA,AGRSS, ect..) I just wanted to know how we, as members can get this into the hands of the people that it needs to be in.... the customer. Showing it to agents, lobbist, congressmen, is a great idea. But is'nt the "customer" the ultimate target? I was just wondering.... and I only printed one copy so "I" didn't have to see it on a computer screen that hurts my eyes.

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
So far the feedback I am getting is to start your distribution by getting to the agents first. I guess in many cases the consumer will head to their agent about their glass repair.
I'm willing to put on an IGA man suit in any TV commercials. Just let me know so I can start working out. I will not jump from tall buildings. Tried that at the age of five. Not a good result. BTW did yawl get IGA Man's statistics?
Stats-
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 215 lbs
Age: 29
Occupation: Auto Glass Avenger
Certifications: IGA & Adhesive Co.
Training: AGU
Marriage Status: Single
Super Powers-
Strength: never needs single-man set tool
Flight: allows for nationwide coverage
Super breath: provides quicker drive away times
Invulnerability: never lost a customer to steering
For the record IGA Man is 10 pounds lighter and one inch shorter than Superman.
Anything else he should be able to do? Maybe I can get some baseball cards made.

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
You know I heard talk about this for some time. Finally its here and Vol.2 is on the way. For those of us who truly are INDEPENDENT, or as INDEPENDENT as you can be in this day and age, this is very helpful. Like I previously mentioned , We pledged our support to the IGA today. I realize we are in essence all competitors, but if its healthy competition, it makes us all "better" (for lack of a more comprehensive term). This is certainly a small step for INDIES, but a giant step for small businesses in many industries. Sounds crazy , but this is what can level the playing field these days, and expose the giants for what they are, coersive, number-crunchin',slave-drivin',price-fixin',blood-suckin',slash and burnin' carrot on a stickin' private equity molestin, politician buyin',SERF and TURFIN, system ridin,no real value service providin',suck the life out of everyone slowly in your neighborhood while barely providin', greedy money suckin' machines.

Re: IGA comic book, Is this a joke?
Regarding Volume #2... why don't you include a shouting match between the yuppie couple (Joe and Judy) and the Network competitor when they schedule the next replacement with Danny GoodGuy and the Network owned competitor's truck shows up in their driveway 5 minutes before Danny GoodGuy gets there?
Or;
Show the Network calling back Judy after she made the appointment w/Danny GoodGuy trying to again steal the appointment by saying that they can have a truck and the glass at her house by the end of the day.
