AGRSS -TPV?

I don't know if the industry can handle another "Third Party". I believe in the standard that AGRSS is trying to set, however "Third Party Validation" to uphold the standard, sounds as good as the TPA system that we deal with on a daily basis with Ins. Companies.

I am not registered with AGRSS at this time. A local competitor, who is registered, is doing some low quality work, I am being polite to say the least. We do clean, complete work and stay up on our traing, and always take safety seriouly!

So as AGRSS hires a auditing firm to carry out this task, I suppose we are going to pay for this also?!
I not sure how much more our bottom line will take!
A Third Party usually lacks in knowledge and understanding of what they are dealing with, so AGRSS, please hire someone that at least knows a little about autoglass!

Hopefully this will clean up all the hacks so I don't have to keep grinding rust out of cars.
Just my thoughts on the subject.

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

No more TPA! I do agree with the AGRESS standards and will do everything to move my company in that diretction. But I will not have another 3rd party in my business.

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

We follows agrss guidelines but are not registered...Most of it is just urethane manafacture guidelines and knowing your products properties and just good sense installation practices...Besides I do not wish for a identity to come audit me,just because..and also there is 2 registered companies that do low quality installs that we know of...thats really doesn't sit good with us......

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

We are AGRSS registered, AGRSS compliant, and FULLY support third party validation. We will gladly pay for this service.

This is EXACTLY what our industry needs. Think through the logical progression.

Benefit #1 - The industry accepts AGRSS as the standard (except SGC). This becomes a selling tool against SGC. Assume then at some point SGC agrees to AGRSS validation...do you think they will pass?

Benefit #2 - The insurance industry, led by State Farm begins requiring AGRSS compliance for referrals.

Benefit #3 - AGRSS compliance will be one barrier-of-entry to our industry.

Good selling,

Re: Re: AGRSS -TPV?

Benefit #2 State Farm refferals? Whats that? Are you kidding me you are relying on refferals from State Farm. Just another way for the Insurance companies to get in your pocket. Do you really think they care about quaility and service. Look at their track record.

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

Buckeye-

Don't ya think belron will eventually own AGRSS?

or at least have enough financial influence to control what they want to? and we would have paid for the foundation to be laid?

gotta go put on my tinfoil hat... black helicoptors are flying over head!

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

I agree with both sides, both make really good points.

To buckeye, I hate to say this but don't expect this to bother belron or you to use it as a selling point aroundthem. Tehy already simply say they exceed agrss just like they say their glass is OEE.

It's a voluntary standard and a public standard. nobody can make registration mandatory. are there any other ansi standards that must have registration or auditing by any third party as a condition to do any work? If so I'd like to know then we could compare to see how it worked.

Until then I am for agrss standards and have been from day 1 but holding opinion on the rest.

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

Buckeye.

AGRSS may become a barrier for insurance work but there is a long long way to go before there is any sort of restrictive barrier for any other kind. Getting 5,000 hacks off the street would go a long way in improving our industry

Let's face it, if you were Belron, would you want to have your corporate, rental or lease return installs validated?? Audited for proper install methods? (5000 Chinese Acura TLs cry out for help!!) Talk about having an elephant in the room!!

However it is amusing to see Belron actually admit that they do not agree with the AGRSS council about the upcoming auditing of install practices of its members. Will we see a "showdown" between the nation's largest auto insurer and auto glass installation company on what installation practices are valid??

Stay tune for "AGR's latest soap:

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

Sure bring on the audit.I have nothing to hide. Here we go again with the mind set that because you are and indie that you are top notch. And only because yuo are and indie.
Sorry but that's not how it works.I have said it b4.Being a good installer is all about the individual and whether he was brought up to care about his work.Whether it's installing glass, mowing grass,or wiping your a$$.
Nobody here cares about your opinion.Everybody's got an opinion, right.
Who in the he77 validates the validator??

Agrss doesn't apply to those cars in china that was butched up..lol.....Only valid in the USA in the continental 48 states...So china is outta luck...lol...babyhuey got away with the murder's he commited overseas.....lol...........
Dont people know that the most profitable way to make money quickly is to sell the business that is making money then the business to generate the same amount of money it was sold for?????SGC gots there hands in everyone's pocket one way or another and they are sleeping around like some dirty hookers on the street on a friday nite....They will not give up any statefarm work or any other insurance work..they will find a loophole just like those pep boys bay partners and storage bins to get more spots on the rotation wheel...they will infiltrate agrss somehow...thats just usual big biz in corp.america......
Sad but true............

Pardon me. A little off topic but - hey atech - I haven't heard nor have I seen the term "tin-foil" used in ages. Ah, the days when bats were made of wood and foil was made from tin.

Re: AGRSS -TPV?

Opus,

Thank you for your reply.

The SGC Network will care when they are forced to be AGRSS compliant by their insurance clients or risk losing contracts to competing networks. For this reason, I believe they will eventually reluctantly join the AGRSS bandwagon...and you make my point about auditing auction work. Either they will raise their installation standards (which is good for consumers who unknowingly purchase their services) or be audited and found to be non-compliant (and risk losing contracts).

Good selling,
Buckeye-for-Life
