Among these was one issue he called "the elephant in the room"—steering (or deceptive referrals) (CLICK HERE for related story.)
"You give us way too much credit," he said. "We're not as good as you think we are. Why would we risk a major multi-million contract to give an extra replacement to one of our auto glass shops? We'd never risk our business by doing something illegal."
MY REPLY: BULLCRAP. INSURERES LOOK AWAY FROM THIS BECAUSE THEY GET BETTER PRICING FROM SAFELITE, REDUCING THEIR CLAIM SEVERITY. THE MORE SAFELITE RETAIL DOES, THE BETTER THE PRICING..SIMPLE BUSINESS ECONOMICS...MOST CALL IT VOLUME PRICING...I WOULD THIN WALMART USES THIS LITTLE STRATEGY ON PURCHASING AND SELLING TOO. FEENEY MUST HAVE TAKEN PSYCHOLOGY INSTEAD OF BUSINESS BECAUSE HE IS BETTER AT SCREWING WITH OUR MINDS.
He added, "We are a very competitive organization, but you are not my competition." MY REPLY...BULLCRAP AGAIN. THIS MAN THINKS WE ARE IDIOTS, OUTSIDE OF "SOLUTIONS'S" REVENUE WHERE DOES THE OTHER 100'S OF MILLIONS COME FROM...REATIL!!!
Feeney also reminded audience members who Safelite Solutions' customers are.
"We take very seriously that those calls are not our customers—they're the insurance companies' customers," he said.
Feeney's session was one of the most popularly attended of the three-day event.
And pricing? "When you get the price from Safelite Solutions, I assure you it's the same price insurers give us," he said. MY REPLY- BULLCRAP..THEY SEE OURS, WE NEED TO SEE THEIR PRICING. I ASKED THIS SAME QUESTION TO A VP AT SAFELITE YEARS AGO AND DID NOT GET THE SAME ANSWER. SOME 3RD PARTY AMDMINISTRATORS(SUCH AS LYNX) ARE PAID THAT WAY BASED ON THE PROGRAMS THEY ADMINISTER FOR CERTAIN INSURANCE COMPANIES. SAFELITE COMPETES WITH THOSE SAME ADMINISTRATORS TOO AND MAY ALSO DO THE SAME "REVENUE" BASED OFF THE DIFFERENECE BE PAID HIGHER BY THE INSURER AND PRICE NEGOTIATED LOWER WITH THE SHOPS TO MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN INCOME VERSE CHARGING A FLAT FEE PER CLAIM.
He also spoke to concerns that shops' proprietary information is distributed throughout the company's other divisions, including its retail portion.
"Information we get from you is not disclosed to Safelite Auto Glass field management," Feeney said.
MY REPLY...YOU GUESSED IT..BULLCRAP!! SAFELITE AREA SALES MANAGERS WHO VISIT AGENCIES AND BODYSHOPS) GET DETAILED REPORTS FROM DISTRICT MANAGERS AND FROM VP'S IN CHARGE OF COMPANY PROGRAMS DURRING CORPORATE MEETINGS(IE BLUE RIBBON FOR NATIOWIDE), SHOWING: IF CALLER PREFERENCED, SHOPS'S PRICE, SHOP NAME, CUSTOMERS NAME, DATES, REPAIR RATIO. I KNOW WHO HAS COPIES OF THEM!!
And how does the company feel about anti-steering legislation?
"We support anti-steering legislation," he said. "We do not support the gag order where we cannot tell consumers about their policyholder rights or legislation that says you cannot answer phones (i.e., administer claims) and install glass." MY REPLY- OF COURSE...IT HELPS THEM CONTROL THE TONE AND SCRIPT(WRITTEN BY THEM AND THE INSURANCE CO.) OF THE CALL WHICH SCARES THE CUSTOMERS TO USING THEIR SHOPS.. I STILL SAY BULLCRAP BECAUSE IT STILL STINKS LIKE CRAP.
Many in the audience also commented that they had jobs "stolen" from Safelite-for example, a technician showing up to do a job and finding that a Safelite technician was in the process of completing the job already. MY REPLY: BULLCRAP- JUST THE OTHER DAY OUR SHOP CALLED IN A CLAIM THAT WE WERE ON THE SITE READY TO DO. OUR OFFICE WAITED FOR SAFELITE TO FAX OVER THE REFERRAL. 10 MINUTES LATER OUR OFFICE CALLED BACK AND SOMEHOW SAFELITE EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE BEEN FAXING US CLAIMS FOR OVER TEN YEARS, SOMEHOW THE BULL CRAPPED OUR APPROVAL TO THE LOCAL SAFELITE SHOP AND THE DIFFERENT SAFELITE REP HAD NO IDEA HOW IT HAPPENED. I THINK HE WAS "CURRIOUS" TOO AS TOMMY IS BELOW IN THIS ARTICLE.

MY REPLY- BULLCRAP, THEY DO NOT COMPLAIN NOR DO THEY NO IF THEY HAD A JOB SENT TO A COMPETITOR. UPPER MANAGEMENT THAT DOES KNOW JOBS GOING TO COMPETITORS VIA INSURANCE COMPANY REPORTS THAT THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE WOULD ONLY GUESS WHY...WAS IT BECAUSE THEY BUY GLASS FROM SAFELITE AND WHOLESALE COMPLAINS THAT THOSE BUYING GLASS WERE TOLD THEY WOULD GET MORE REFERRALS OR IS IT BECAUSE THE SAFELITE SHOPS WERE TRIPPLE BOOKED CAUSING SERVICE ISSUES AND THEY HAD TO GIVE IT TO A COMPETITOR...BY THE WAY, THOSE REPORTS THAT WERE TALKED ABOUT EARLIER THAT RETAIL/MGMT/SALES PEOPLE NEVER GET ACTUALLY SHOWS THAT TOO.
"I thought that might give you a little tug at the heart," Feeney chuckled. MY REPLY: I CAN SEE HIM LAUGHING JUST LIKE SATAN IN THAT LOW EVIL TONE
He stressed openness throughout the presentation. MY REPLY: BULLCRAP ADVICE. WE AS INDEPENDENTS ARE AS OPEN AS A TWO-BIT ***** AND HE IS THE EX-GOVENOR OF NEW YORK!! SAFELITE KNOWS MORE ABOUT ANY ONE GLASS SHOP AND THE STREET ONLY GOWS ONE WAY IN THEIR FAVOR. THIS BULL SHOULD BE CASTRATED FOR LYING WITH IT'S LEGEL BUT UNETHICAL AND ILLEGAL"CURIOUS TO HOW IT HAPPENS" PRACTICES!!
"Anytime you're in Columbus, Ohio, the hot spot of America, we'd be happy to host you in our offices," Feeney offered. MY REPLY- IT IS THE HOT SPOT..WITH RELATION TO THIS GUY, HE CALLES IT HOME...AKA "HELL".
GlasWeld president Mike Boyle asked Feeney if all the myths are untrue, why he believes Safelite has the reputation among independents that it does.
"The fact that we have shops that replace auto glass and that we answer the phones," he replied. MY REPLY: BULLCRAP AGAIN. HE KNOWS IT ALL AND SO DOES THE SHOPS, THE CTU'S, THE SALES PEOPLE, THE TECHS, THE CUSTODIAN WHO CHANGES THE TOILET PAPER FOR FEENEY PROBABLY KNOWS.
Feeney took questions from numerous audience members, including Donna Braden of Jack's Glass, who advised she's encountered not only steering efforts, but also "hostility" from Safelite Solutions' customer service representatives when assisting customers with setting up glass claims.
Feeney encouraged Braden to provide information on the particular calls to him so that he might pull the tapes of the calls and can look into the circumstances surrounding the calls. MY REPLY- IT DOES NOT MATTER, THEIR "CUSTOMER" THE INSURANCE COMPANY DOES NOT CARE SINCE IT SAVES THEM MILLIONS EACH YEAR..YES MILLIONS!!! ASK NATIONWIDE INSURANCE HOW MUCH THEY SAVED THE FIRST FIVE YEARS BY USING SAFELITE OVER ANY OTHER ADMINISTRATOR(WITH OUT RETAIL AND WHOLESALE SALES) AND ANY OTHER GLASS COMPANY DOING THE REPAIR AND REPALCEMENTS.....AND TO THINK FEENEY'S TEAM OF BULLS DO NOT COMPETE WITH US BECAUASE WE ARE NOT HIS COMPETITORS AND THE THE CALLER IS NOT HIS CUSTOMER....TOM YOU (AND THE BELRON BULLS) ARE A FREAK'N LIER AND YOUR MOMMY SHOULD WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT WITH SOAP ON MOTHER'S DAY.
"Hostility and rudeness—there's no place for it," he said, adding that to pull a call, he'd need information such as the date of loss, reference number and/or the customer's name.
Another audience member commented on Feeney's observation that Safelite doesn't "steal work" from independents—noting that he's shown up for jobs before and found Safelite techs there.
"We're as curious about those instances as you are," Feeney responded. MY REPLY- "CURRIOUS"...BULLCRAP!! FEENEY YOU EAT GLASS COMPANY COMPLAINTS LIKE IT IS FIBER FOR THE BULLCRAP. I HAVE HEARD OF "SPIN CITY" BUT CRAP, THIS GUYS IS GOOD IF YOU ALL SAT THERE AND TOOK THAT ANSWER. DID FEENEY HELP CLINTON WITH THE DID NOT ENHALE OR DID NOT HAVE SEX SCANDALS?
Another wondered why glass shops must provided their "proprietary information," such as how much they pay for glass, to Safelite Solutions when it processes claims in which the shop is involved.
"It depends on the requirements of the insurance companies," Feeney advised, "but that information doesn't go any further than that." MY REPLY: BULLCRAP AGAIN!! I BET THEY SOMEHOW LET IT DROP IN THE HANDS OF THEIR COMPANY OWNED WHOLESALE DIVISION EMPLOYEES BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE THAT IS BEST USED OUTSIDE OF LETTING SAFELITE KNOW HOW MUCH PROFITS THEY CAN SQUEEZE OUT OF THE COMPETITION...US. SAFELITE NEEDS TO LET EACH SHOP OWNER KNOW HOW MUCH THEY SPEND ON PARTS. THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY NEEDS TO LET US KNOW HOW MUCH THEY PAY OUR AGENTS BEFORE WE "AUTHORIZE" OUR PREMIUM!!!
Those in attendance seemed to appreciate Feeney's presentation at the conference, despite their many questions and concerns.
"I give [Safelite] a lot of credit to show that they're extending the olive branch, as they know there's a lot of negativity out there toward their corporation," said IGA board member Mike Russo of Thru-Way Glass in Syracuse, N.Y.
Russo added, "I also credit [Feeney] with taking questions that were not pre-selected or pre-screened."
MY REPLY: RUSSO...YOUR A GULLABLE IDIOT FOR GIVING CREDIT TO THE BULL WHO CRAPPED ALL OVER YOU AND THE OTHERS WHO SWALLED THE CRAP OF LIES.
AS JACK WOULD SAY..."YOU WANT THE TRUTH...YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!"
BUT I DO HAVE THE PROOF..STRAIGHT FROM THE BULL!!
SAFELITE SOLUTIONS NEEDS TO BR BROKEN OFF FROM RETAIL. THEY DID IT WITH THE "MA BELLS" LETS DO IT TO THIS FAT BULL WHO CRAPS ALOT.

Over 270 views and only four replies. The rest must be insurance people who work with S. Solutions, safelite employees and the attendees who beleived "Tommy Boy" really did dispell the "MYTHS" about 'Safelite "The Bull" Solutions'.
Please let me know in advance when another Belron Executive shoots out more crap in public and I would love to attend with their so called "private" reports that the retail field does not get or some curious recorded calls about them accidently dispatching their shops on other comapanies jobs that "they do not compete with".

I can't help but wonder,, why,,, and how many attendees sat in that room and didn't stand up and say,, wait a minute Mr. Feeney, you are grossly missinformed or lying through your teeth. How could those in attendance sit there and let him get away with it? I would of booood him off the podium, rude or not, to stand there and blatantly lie, ,, what, no one in attendance had any testicular fortitude? This is why so many feel these mtgs are a waste of time and $$$$$$$$$$$$! sorry to anyone I just offended but this is my Humble opinion.

First of all, what would anyone expect?
an admission?? A truth or dare session??
One got what one should have expected.... the company line No company secrets were revealed (other than perhaps a too honest comment regarding AGRSS audits)
It would have been nice if some indie who had possession of internal sales documents that proves (or proved) what Nunya is claiming about sharing proprietary sales data would have stood up and cried Gotcha!! But no drama like that occurred. We all figure something like that is occuring, helpless to stop it if one plays the TPA game
I wasn't there but I know I would not have tarred and feathered the fertilizer spreader. He was brave enough to show up to the lion's den and from reports posted on the forum, it wasn't all warm and fuzzy.
I still think it is important to keep the door open and let Belron's upper management speak at Indie conventions so that many of us can decide how wide the gap is between reality and fiction.
As for this post, I would have liked to see more logic and reason than emotion. I understand completely that the attempt was made to be covered in manure by Mr Feeney but I just appreciate less theatrics and caps

Opus is partially correct. What we got exactly what we expected, but so MUCH MORE!
I was in attendance and I can tell you the "NO THIRD-PARTY AUDIT" comment was HUGE, no MORE THAN HUGE. It was like a 5.0 earthquake in the room. I am anxiously awaiting the "correction" from Safelite marketing.
Something else that has gotten little coverage was the comment where Mr. Feeney said "I have been telling them(insurers) that they have been over-paying for glass for a long time." WHAT? Now you can decided why a manufacturer, distributor, retailer, and claims administrator (who DOESN'T compete with ANY of US LOL!! )might want to tell his customer he is/has been getting ripped off for years. I have my ideas but they are best NOT presented in this forum.
Let me remind those that say this "conference" wasn't worth anything because "those in attendance just sat their and took this" that what we DID get was Mr. Feeney digging himself a hole. Had we "rudely" stopped at the beggining of his presentataion NONE of those comments or "holes" would have ever happened.
So say what you will but in reality we gave Mr. Feeney a rope, and he decided what to do with it.
Nuya- I am sure AGRR would be very interested in the data you have collected. Any chance you can forward it to Penny?

I agree too that the group did great holding some composure giving Tommy Boy a chance to hang himself.

Please keep this info private...your not supposed to know the password which is "tommy boy the bull". Since you know which of their customers are being reffered to which competitor that we compete with in the auto glass retail, you can now "recommend" to their staff that their corporate office is recommending that "mrs smith" who had a claim last month went to abc competitor and lost the company ## in claims money and they are "urging" she not have them ask for any glass company but just use the 800 number and let safelite advise them on they think should have the claim because they are honest, inexpensive and do not compete with other lgass companies becasue Tommy Boy said so.

Thank you nunya, for the info and the emotion. I dont think it has sunk in how hard and fast this plague will spread if it goes unchecked. Most shops are doing their seasonal rush , so they aren't paying attention. But if and when all BELWRONG'S effort kicks in, some businesses will fall like a lead balloon.
