problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

I went to put a DD9789 in this morning and all went well until I tested it and about half way up it jumps out a bit and won't seal up properly at the top.

I checked and re-checked everything and it seems to be good so I am thinking the glass is out of bend. It is a Pilkington DOT 820 DD9789. Anyone know who or where DOT 820 comes from?

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

hmmm...I didn't see any apparent issues with either the run or the regulator, but I suppose its possible because the glass isn't off by much...just enough to make it want to pop out at the top instead of staying in the channel.

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

How did the glass get broke? If it got hit hard enough it could have bent things. Just my $.02

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

The customer doesn't know how it broke. There was alot of mowing going on in his neighborhood so he thinks thats what happened.

I'm gonna get a new glass and see if that works if not I will get a new regulator.

run the glass up and down by hand unconnected...see if it snags somewhere...most likely its the glass itself, has a bad bend.........like some of the zyg tempered door glasses we've seen........

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

More than likely, I'd have to go with a bad bend. I get a lot of that with ATI glass (I'm just a tech so I have no control over the parts) or maybe there's a piece of broken glass left in the channle. There's my $.02

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

I pushed the door glass up and down by hand and its pretty tight about half way up so I am definitley thinking bad bend. I'm getting a new glass that is a different brand brought in and I'm going back out Tuesday to try it.

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

All of us at the shop hate ATI temp parts. I put one in a new Mustang. Needless to say, I saw the car again when I went back out with a Carlite part. Solved the whistle problem.

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

I put an FYG door glass in a subaru one time and it actually fit quite well...I was surprised. I had to adjust the stops a bit to get it to seal right, but otherwise it was a good part.

I think the worst stuff out there is the XYG.that the glass that comes wrapped in blue paper..the wholesaler shipped us a door glass for a toyota 4runner and the tabs was glued in wromg place and it had a bad bend after we repositioned the tabs...lol...what a POS......

sounds like regulator, ck the left arm for it to be twisted. if a rock from mowing broke window, arm could be twisted from the force.

Re: problem with '02 Intrepid passenger door glass

This was a bad bend in the glass. I fixed it tonight with a mopar window. Worked like a charm. Even got paid more because of the OEM part. :)

There are days when I think about becoming a strictly OEM glass company and charging accordingly.
