The answer is so simple, just say "NO", or give them exaclty what they pay for. If they only pay for 1 chip, then get the customer involved, show him, or her. When the consumer stands up, change will happen quickly. When is this industry going to understand, they are "Fishing". If enough bite then they get away with it,,,, It truely is that simple. The sdame goes for discounting, they push it to see who will keep going lower.

Wake up my friend. Nobody bites them back. Every time they increase discounts, lower labor charges, decrease chip repair payments, add "Platinum Preferred Shops", nothing happens.

"Independent" shops are just that. There is no union or group that does a bit of good. You have to fight for yourself and worry about yourself when you decide to open your own small business.

There are lots of things you can do on your own... Get off the network preferred lists. Stop listening to the network and Third Party Competitors when they tell you what you can and can't do. Start getting out there and get your own business. If you can't rebate in your State, work with non profits (Little League for example) and donate a fixed amount to the League for each windshield you replace that is referred from the League. Go to Insurance Agents offices and ask if you can advertise on their board or counter or somewhere. Then pay them for referrals, I mean advertising. Nobody can stop you from advertising. There's a ton of ways to beat the Goliath's Do it!

Re: am fam repairs

Fifty five for up to three repairs for Progressive, started back in Feb. My customer was referred by a friend at State Farm. He wrestled Progressive for 30 minutes trying to get them to pay me for the additional 10/chip. Finally got it but he hates them now. I will do a great repair for the money and just might not do too well on the freebies. Progressive told me that my company approved the pricing that they faxed us. I said really, seeing that I am an owner and I know we are not on Safelite's crap programs we never approved it the month prior nor today.

The cost of repair is getting cheaper for these *******s when everything is going up. Decades ago SF paid 49.95 and for the last ten it went up a nickel.

What is the likely hood of more than one chip occurring from the same date of loss from the same peril/vehicle. Nill! But seeing that we are out there and what way can glass people get screwed, put it under one claim and call it 10/more for additional chips. In reality, each chip from separate dates of loss should be separate and should be billed as the larger initial repair. If you call your insurance company and told them you hit a pole and damaged the front of your car one month and later backed into your mailbox. Just because your car is at the body shop to do all the work, is it all under one claim and one deductible...heck no. two claims and two collision deductibles. I had an errogant pompass agent tell me the other week that us glass people make plenty off insurance and yet he takes 3-4 vacation trips per year and his wife and him drive high end luxery cars. He never even grew the business. His wife is third generation and he sucks off the family. It makes me sick!! I can say there are some great paying jobs still but all the crap we have to do to get these jobs...

Re: am fam repairs

If you attempt to do a quality repair , THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ONLY LOSS (no profit) IN IT. Where is truthbetold when you need him/him.
