Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

It's seems like it is pressed on. We use a wiper puller, a little heat, while tapping it at various points around the outside edges. I've also managed to get them off with a large pair of channel locks. Rocking it back and forth till it releases. The best words i can offer you though would be " GOOD FRIGGIN' LUCK"

Just leave the thing on. Control the windshield when you set it and you will be just fine. Superior skill wins the day with these.

I just bought 3 of the CG240 pullers from snap on website....$85.00 each plus shipping. They weren't available from online store (out of stock) so I called them and they had 'em shipped from a diff location.

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

A simple wiper puller from Equalizer works well on these. I think I paid less than $10 for mine. Doesn't work on everything, but it works well on these. I just did one afew weeks ago. Mine had a rain sensor...an FW2195 I believe.

The cowl is a beeyotch on these period. I removed the wipers and the screws across the top, propped it up and laid the windshield in. It sits about half an inch below the cowl...no smear. Sets directly on the urethane and you don;t have to tear apart half the engine compartment to do the job.

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

The BMW wiper puller will work on all BMW wipers as well as Land Rover, Trail Blazers, Saturn, and any other wipers that need pulling, The BMW wiper puller is the only wiper puller I use.

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

Thanks for the tip Jeff.

I hate those Trailblazer wipers. I had a nightmare time with one afew weeks ago. Took me longer to get the wiper off then it did to do the rest of the job.

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

Does the equalizer wp534 wiper puller work on a 06 BMW 530 fw2448? Its the only one I have just wondering if it will work as I have one to do next week.Also...do i need a new molding? I'm getting BMW parts.

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

No, it probably won't. A pitman arm puller will work (NAPA) but for long term use get a Universal wiper arm puller #61 6 060 from BMW. The part # is 83-30-0-493-441. It will work on anything.

Some of these are equipped with a condensation sensor.make sure that you get a new one from BMW..We transfer at times with a rsp1 kit and trim...It works fine...The clips on the side breaks easily...get them from BMW.Makes the job so much easier. And get a set of allen keys for the cowl..You'll see the marks that you have to twist 90 degree's........

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

All the condensation equipped BMW's we have done have had the sensor attached with 2 face tape. Why get a new one when you don't need to???

Re: FW 2007 BMW COWL SCREEN

Prtecautionary,We stock one just in case....We transfer with rsp1 kit and trim...We also transfer some of the rain sensors on BMW with the same kit....But all it takes is just one to not work, thats why its always better to be safe then sorry......
