Need advice on ebay auctions
Hi, I'm considering buying a timeshare resale from ebay but I have a few reservations. First, why are some of them so cheap? I see that there are a lot of "hidden" costs for these less expensive ones and I'm wondering if there are any other "catches" in the fine print that I'm just not seeing. Second, a lot of the less expensive timeshares seem to be deeded as a particular (low demand) week but with the option to float for other weeks. I'm thinking that maybe there's a catch in there too. I hate to be so paranoid when it seems that there are so many good deals out there but I've gotten caught by not reading the fine print before so I want to be extra careful. It doesn't help that my hubby is totally against it because he thinks there must there must be some sort of catch as well (i.e. actual availability) Does anyone have any advice on ebay timeshares and anything to look out for? Thanks! |

In most cases the hidden costs are the travel expenses, maintenance fee, tax assessments, transfer fee, as every company is different you will have to read the fine print to make sure what charges apply to what. Usually the brand names have better service and care a little bit more ( Marriott, Disney, World mark etc.) You want to get a place that you would like to visit often. Make sure you can afford the round trips every year at least to your home resort. DON'T BUY - If you are planning to rent or resale it. DON'T EXCHANGE IT OFTEN - you will get a lot of extra weeks offered to you at a very discounted price, often cheaper than the maintenance fee and you can use those worldwide. Good Luck and good travels. Tony |
