Should I cancel the purchase?
We currently own at the Summit in Massanutten resort. This is a RCI weeks resort. Last week bought at Vacation Village at Parkway (Orlando FL), a RCI Points Resort. Paid $13,990 for week 17 (Red) two bedroom unit. This comes with membership in the Vacation Village Voyages which basically allows you to have an additional 3-5 weeks for $288/week. This also allows our 2 weeks at Massanutten to be traded thru RCI for points (60500 each week). Got 46250 points at Vacation Village so the total combined points would be 167250 points each year. The idea is to use the Vacation Village Voyager Program for the accomodations, and use the points towards airfare or car rental. Shall I keep the Vacation Village TS or cancel the contract? |

If you're asking will your plan for use work - yes, it will. If your question is "Am I paying too much to get this?" the answer is also YES. You can easily buy into an RCI Points based resort with as many points and all the other features of use for about $1500-$2500, and mostl likely lower annual fees. Heck, you may even find that resort at less than 1/3 the price you're getting. But to get the use and bonus times does not require ownership at VV or Orlando, not that theres anything wrong if you want to own there. You are just paying too much as you always will if you buy from the developer. So rescind your purchase. Follow the steps EXACTLY as stated in your paperwork. Then, after it is safely canceled, shop around for a deal on RCI Points. They are all over and you'll pay far less and most likely get more on resale. |

I don't think your 'Voyager' program has been mentioned before. Your optimistic outlook for using it with RCI points for airfare is a cause of concern. I personally don't think that you will get what you were led to expect in that program and points for airfare is not a good use unles you can churn points like BruceCZ does at CMV. Please, rescind now or forever hold your peace. |
