Which Site do you like better? RCI or II?
Which site do you prefer RCI or II I like the way the search features work with II. If they area that you are looking for is not available. I find that the drop down window listing what is available for the same time frame is a plus. I do not think the RCI site is bad but it is down a lot. I do like the resort descriptions and the fact that you can see reviews for the resorts. Whats your Opinion? |

II performed so poorly for us~~~less than 5 exchanges in 14 years v. more than 75 from RCI~~~that we gave up on them, and their site a couple years ago. I did not like their site at that time. |

It took a few tries to figure out II's new webpages, but I now prefer it to RCI's . . . With RCI, you must enter various regions and sub-regions and dates, and the dates are limited to 10-week searches . . . You just need to enter much more info to get to the search "click" . . . With II, if you enter a certain date, and click on something like "show me everything", you will see a list of all areas available for a week or two before your selected date to a week or two after, listed alphabetically from Argentina to Zanzibar . . . And you can quickly go back and change your search dates with a couple of clicks . . . Way more important to us: Even with perhaps 1/2 the resorts in their Directory compared to RCI's, Interval usually turns up 5 to 10 times as many exchange opportunities than does RCI . . . And I am comparing apples to apples here . . . We are using the same timeshare, same weeks, same time of depositing in advance, just a different year of deposit (e.g. 2005/2006) . . . Makes no difference--II comes out way ahead every time . . . Now, that said, we continue to deposit some of our weeks with RCI because we have received decent (even very good) exchanges with them as recently as this year . . . But, with this whole aspect of RCI taking deposits and immediately placing them into their rental pool (their Directory says they can do this--See Section 6/part (c) of their Terms and Conditions in the RCI Directory --"to conduct exchanges . . . and for other purposes at RCI's discretion") . . . Read that as "rentals" . . . Interval has no such policy, as far as I can tell . . . We like II and its website a lot . . . We like RCI and its website a little bit. |

I've only used II for about a year and have used RCI for over 10 years. I like the "search all destinations" feature of II and that I can search over more that a 10 week period that RCI limits me to. I also like the II feature that will let me see future availability of a particualr resort. All in all, they both seem to work for me fairly well. Seldom do I need to call on the phone anymore. |

I am having withdrawal pains. RCI's site is really cumbersome but at least you know you are seeing what is there. I always have this vague thought about Interval that you don't see the whole deal on their website. I know I read that somewhere....maybe Craig posted that once? The show me everything for the whole year feature is kind of neat though. Certainly makes my "job" easier. |

I have 2 timeshares, both in New Smyrna Beach, one with RCI and one with II. We only belong to II. I never liked the fact that, with RCI, you had to give up your week without knowing what you were going to get in return (please let me know if this has changed--as I said, we have never joined RCI). As a kid, when I traded baseball cards, I always knew what I was getting before I traded. With II, you can pretty much swap on site, as long as what you want is in their available list. We hardly ever put in long-term requests, and perhaps RCI is good for that--I wouldn't know. Anyway, we have been very happy with II, and we often get bonus weeks with our deposti (that still cost up to $399--there is no free lunch) that we have used to get very nice resports (such as Royal Sands-Cancun). As a newbie to this site, I hope to post more. One child is a Freshman in college and another a Sophomore in H.S. In a couple of years, they both will be launched, and we may then be taking more vacations (we average 2-3 a year, but we hope to do more. ) Great site. |
