Andrew Potts of 29 Hudson Road, Plumstead, in the 1881 census, also had a son Edward Potts born in 1883, from who I am descended. Andrew Potts'father was James Potts born in 1808 in Hopton Wafers, Shropshire. His wife was Ann Manning from Little Torrington, Devon. James Potts' parents were Henry and Elizabeth Potts. James Potts was in the Royal Artillery and stationed at Woolwich Barracks, and that is how the Potts family came to live in the area. James Potts eventually died in the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, as a Chelsea pensioner.
