Today I went to the beach off Sandbridge Road to meet up with other family members. The sky was sunny but stormy weather had made the ocean rough. I parked my car at the municipal lot and paid the attendant the parking fee. As I proceeded to the shore I discovered that the beach was "red flagged" meaning no swimming. I was unaware of this and as I left the beach I informed the attendent the beach was closed for normal swimming and that she should let people know who come to park so they can decide before they pay if they want to use the beach. I didn't ask for a refund but she kindly said she would ask her suppervisor if she could give my parking fee back. The suppervisor came back and said he couldn't refund my fee. I said that I didn't expect it but could he please tell other arriving people of the closed beach conditions before they pay as a courtesy. His responce was that he wouldn't do that. I was very annoyed and taken aback by this lack of basic coutesy. If this is your practice of treating guests, than our family will return to the Outer Banks next summer for vacation where they know how to treat visitors with common courtesy and hospitality. |
